Chick in Egg is a 3D-printable model: a white egg on two little feet that opens to reveal a cheerful yellow chick. It is part of the Fluffy Birds series by Alchemic Matter and is free to download on MakerWorld.
What it is
Closed, it looks like a walking egg with funny little feet; open it up and a cheerful chick pops out. The same object can be displayed in three ways: the chick standing on its own, the chick in the bottom half of the egg, or the egg closed.
What it is for
- Easter egg hunts: hide it among real eggs for a surprise.
- Decoration: a table decoration or centrepiece, for seasonal decor.
- Gifts: a fun printable gift for kids and family.
- Easter baskets: a handmade touch.

Printing
The project includes 5 print profiles ready for Bambu Studio. These are the main ones, with the print times listed on MakerWorld (they vary with printer and settings):
| File | Time | Plates |
|---|---|---|
| Chick | 1.6 h | 1 |
| Egg | 1.3 h | 1 |
| Chick, A1 / A1 mini version | 1.8 h | 2 |
Supports. The bottom part is always the hardest to print. In my tests, on a P1S with standard PLA, normal supports with a higher angle gave almost flawless results.
Assembly
- Add the beak first.
- Then the eyes and the legs.
- There are two holes on the bottom of the egg, so you can add the egg first by removing the legs from the chick.
